Hey y’all, it’s been a while, but recently I’ve been going through some really frustrating circumstances with my education and such – mainly getting wait-listed into nursing programs by stupidly small margins, and being unable to reapply because a lot of the programs are now implementing so-and-so-new rule and basically I’m calling it quits in California, and am now following the advice of several of my peers to look from programs out of the state!
 
But, you know, there are like FORTY-NINE other states out there and I’ve got to start somewhere! So here I am!
 
BASICALLY I WOULD LIKE TO INQUIRE IF ANY OF YOU LOVELY PEOPLE ON MY FLIST KNOW OF ANY SCHOOLS THAT HAS A NURSING (BSN) TRACK PROGRAM.
 
If you are not sure if it is BSN specific, that’s fine! If you know it has some kind of nursing program, just give me the name of the university and I will check it out myself! :)
 
I would also prefer if it was a state near California, but right now I’m not in any position to be picky, lol.  And uh, places for housing, state or private, scholarship availability, and generally if the area around campus is accessible. THOUGH THESE ARE OPTIONAL DETAILS.
 
And! If anyone has any experience with going to out-of-state school, I would appreciate any advice you can give me! Things like how to make sure my credits transfer, what's the skinny on out-of-state details. Things like that!

 Hi! So my 6-year old email account got hacked over at hotmail so now I’m finally getting off my lazy butt to rewire all the internet accounts I ever had to gmail.  It is not easy! (Also I have lost my contacts list. If you want to do an exchange here or privately, just drop a message. Ughhhhhh hotmail.)

Anyway, I’m not sure if anyone would care – but my main online/fandom email is going to be p(dot)tanyart(at)gmail(dot)com from now on.  If I ever gave you a hotmail address, it is now all LIES and SPAMBOTS and BITTER TEARS and POOR USERNAME CHOICES.

Any emails that may have been sent to me within this past week will not have been received.  This also includes LJ notifications – though my LJ inbox tells me that I have no new messages, so I don’t think I missed anything, heh.  Also I apologize to anyone who has been getting dumb emails from me – my father says he has received like ten spammy postmaster things from me! Hotmail.

Other related woes include my dying internet connection.  I haven’t been able to load a youtube video in months and loading gmail is like playing slot machines and virtually losing every time. LJ is not helping either with its constant VARNISH errors and I don’t know what is up with DW, but it hasn’t been working very fast for me either. (The reason why this entry is so long and wordy when I initially wanted to make a short announcement is because DW won’t load properly to crosspost and—FIRSTWORLD PROBLEMS!!

Firstly-- does anyone have an extra AO3 invite code? I have a friend looking for one and I would totally appreciate it if anyone can help with that. She is a fantastic writer and I would love to see her stuff on AO3.  Please and thanks!  :D

and now for bullet points! 

• Summer classes are frustratingly difficult to... to schedule. To put a schedule on. You go to class, you study, and then you take a test every three days or so. Then there's that awkward time in between exams when you don't have to study anything and so you sit and worry and anxiously kind-of-read-ahead, but the professor is very particular about what parts to study on, so-- eh.  You end up not reading ahead and then you are slammed with the next few chapters.  I haven't taken summer classes that involved my core studies before. :/
• Anyway, I've also read/skimmed through The Secret Crusade by Oliver Bowden.  It was horrible, as expected, and I really don't want to talk about it anymore. (I did a quick post-post on tumblr, but I can't be bothered to link it either.)
• Um, and I also watched a whole bunch of movies during the past few weeks.  First Class and The Illusionist are the most prominent ones.  First Class was really fun to watch! It's entertaining and pretty gay.  I came in expecting tons of Erik/Charles and that was certainly delivered, but I also came out shipping Alex/Darwin.  I doubt I will ever get into the fandom, but it was worth the five bucks.  
• The Illusionist, on the other hand, was not what I expected.  I thought it was a lighthearted story about a magician and girl who travel together doing magic shows! NOPE. It was tragic, and heartbreaking, and every happy moment was like a perfect, bittersweet gem.  The animation was gorgeous and I loved that watercolor/grainy texture; it just came out so pretty and made me really nostalgic for the old animated cartoons, haha.  As much as I liked the movie, I doubt I would watch it again.  It is a real treat, though. 
• Hm. I am currently trying to reread Codex Alera by Jim Butcher, after being reminded of it on tumblr. I also want to reread Republic Commando, but I'll start with what's readily on hand first.  (Hard Contact is missing and I can't remember who I lent it out to, d'oh.)   Reading hasn't been happening at all, and I am constantly disappointed that I can't make time, or I chose all my free time to TUMBLR, which gah, I really need to back off that site, but but but but but- sigh.
• Meanwhile, I am dreadfully behind on comments, flist and entries. I will try to catch up over the holiday, ahahah.

  All right! I know that my last few posts haven't exactly been cheerful, but life's more or less sorted out until the next big crisis.  Now unless you aren't an Assassin's Creed fan or have not been on tumblr/internet/twitter for a while, the trailer for Revelations was released at E3, plus a Desmond-centric trailer and a gameplay demo.

tl;dr: it was rad and I may have screamed endlessly for the whole day and some hours after.

 So this happened.


And all of tumblr exploded, and I'm quite all right with that.

I really don't have any cohesive thoughts other than blindly key smashing around. Because. Sniper's last name. Miss Pauling being a total badass. Heavy's pajamas.  Solly's terrible spelling. Beta!Spy. Just to name a few things.  Even though I want to name ALL THE THINGS, but that's pretty  much a big DUH right there. Of course I love everything.

Aaaand, that Assassin's Creed: Revelations reveal that same morning. It has been non-stop excitement. Though, really, I'm just sort of waiting it out. I'm pretty giddy that we get to revisit Altair again (and Ezio and Desmond), but I have absolutely no idea what Ubisoft is doing. (Sometimes I don't think they know either, ahaha.)

As for life, it is being vague with me again.  Tonight, in the midsts of all of this, the nursing program I REALLY want to get into sent me an update on my application and apparently they put me as an alternate.  Which.  Isn't a rejection letter at least, ahaha. I'm so relieved but scared out of my mind.  I really don't know what the chances of an alternate has in getting in, and, well. Fingers crossed. There isn't much to do but push forward on my studies and come up with some back up plans in case the worst happens.

Anyway. Aside from that big fat question mark hovering over my career, it's pretty much good news all around. HEH.

 Just took two midterms this week and I'll have another two more to do in a couple of more days. FUN FUN FUN. Anyway, bullet point entry because I'm forgetting how to blog. (I blame tumblr.)

► Firstly, today my sister and I saw Water for Elephants, staring Robert Patterson and Reese Witherspoon.  The setting is that delightful Depression Era in the 30s and about a young man who joins a circus and meets this badass elephant (while falling in love with the ringmaster's wife).  This synopsis sounds perfectly awesome.  Then you realize that it's Robert Patterson and Reese Witherspoon. (And while they are okay-actors, just imagine my sister and I sitting in a theater full of love-stricken teens and middle aged women. The SIGHING and CLAPPING and GIGGLES. Dear god.)  Long story short, the movie was god-awful. The characters were inconsistent, and whoever wrote the screenplay needs to be punched in the face. It was just a whole bunch of awkward and not enough circus antics, despite TAKING PLACE IN A CIRCUS. How does that happen, I don't know!  I hated nearly every second of it, but honestly the costumes were really good so I guess there's that. :|

I was gonna write more about how the movie was utterly dumb as fuck, but I can't stand thinking about it anymore.  Watching Twilight was better, let's just put it that way.

►I caught up with Young Justice and I like it well enough, lol. I don't really like any of the main characters, but I sort of love watching them flail around with each other. They are utter wrecks with relationships. It's hilarious. (Also I may hardcore ship Superman/Batman. They are SUPERHUSBANDS.  Not so much superparents though.)

►help_japan  fics are moving along! Writing in general just kind of slowed down because of school, weh. I know I owe people some drabbles, and I probably picked a bad time to do that meme, but those kisses will get written. They will. >:(

►I'm going to start playing Dragon Age 2 because I have no self control and certain people can be such enablers! (Also I want to know more about this Fenris guy and why everyone loves to hate him and hates to love him and oh yeah he's kind of really pretty.)

►um, and I got rejected from one of the nursing schools I applied to. There's not really much to say about that. I mean. 40 spots and 240 applicants? Overall I'm not surprised, but it's still frustrating.  In another time (maybe a few years ago), I wouldn't have this problem, but everything's impacted foreverrrr.

► Speaking of school, I need to gloat over the fact that I received a 98% on my philosophy paper that I stayed up all night to write.  This is my first legit philosophy class I'm taking and I'm quickly finding out that philosophy is Not My Thing At All.  

► Also I'm on three hours of sleep and I'm going to fix that right now, lol.
